Day#29 - moving into my second month as a Roman. As I mentioned earlier, I basically slept until 1:10 PM. I can't remember the last time I did that, but it was probably college! Finally got my butt up, had lunch, finished my post from yesterday, and did some minor cleaning up. Decided at 4:00 to take a shower and get dressed. I left the apt to go to Piazza Barberini, back to Trevi, back to the Pantheon (it was closed last night) and to visit my favorite church, Saint Ignazio Loyola.

I took bus 63 which took its sweet time showing. I meant to get off at Barberini, but I missed the stop so got off 3 blocks later at Tritone.I walked back to Barberini, took some photos of the fountain, and proceeded to walk to Trevi. Took a few more pics of Trevi and then made my way back to a shop I had visited yesterday. Got a few pretties and continued to the Pantheon. Almost there, a guy was making huge bubbles so I had to video him. One batch of bubbles came right at me! It was cute - all these kids were running through the bubbles, laughing and screaming. I arrived at the Pantheon to find it closed - damn, missed it two days in a row! I tried for Ignazio, but he was being closed as I arrived so I ran in and snapped one photo. I eased my pain with a small gelato.

I returned to the Pantheon area where a guy was playing electric guitar and singing - Pink Floyd's The Wall. He had quite a crowd gathered. I had completed almost nothing and it was getting dark so I walked to the bus stop. #83 arrived and we were off (more than i realized at the time). Roman roads are almost all made of cobblestone so no ride is ever smooth; however, when we hit bumps along the way, it sounded like the undercarriage of the bus was smashing into the road. And the ride was brutally uncomfortable. The driver stopped, checked the tires, we sat for a few, and then we were moving again. Not far from where we stopped, the scraping and banging happened again so the bus driver stopped by Villa Borghese and told us all to get off the bus because it was out of order - no shit, Sherlock! We passengers just stood there and finally bus 190 appeared. This bus went no where near where I had to go so I didn't board it. Finally good old 63 came to retrieve us, and I made it to PBA. As usual, I walked back to the apt, but THIS time I didn't stop to rest but walked the entire 1/2 mile. Yay me! I fixed salad for dinner to make up for the gelato. pink party dresses

Some random things I've noticed:

1. Every Italian woman wears gorgeous shoes - shopping, walking, jogging - GORGEOUS.

2. The apt is in a flight path so I hear planes overhead, mostly in the morning. They are high enough not to be really disturbing.

3. Italians will make anything a party.

4. An older person can displace a younger from a bus seat with a glance.

5. No matter how much Italian I speak, I am ALWAYS identified as an American tourist.

Here are today's pics.
